Sara Guidry was looking in her son Kale’s mouth when she noticed a strange white spot on his gums. She got a pair of tweezers to pull out the offending object and discovered — much to her shock and that of every person who would later see the footage on Facebook — that there was a fingernail stuck in Kale’s gum. Actually, scratch that — not “a” fingernail, four fingernails! And then things got even worse. It’s the kind of thing you have to see to believe, but unfortunately, it’s also the kind of thing you can never, ever unsee. The human body is full of surprises, I guess. Horrible, awful surprises. Guidry ended her post with a plea to other parents to stop their kids from biting their fingernails, and, hey, fair enough. Hopefully, though, this is one of those incredibly rare occurrences that most parents don’t have to worry about happening to their kids, even if they bite their nails to the quick. Still, if you do want your kid to stop biting his nails, showing him this video might be a good way to inspire him to kick the habit. Or give him nightmares — probably both!
