“Both boys used to be brilliant at taking medication and if given half the chance, would down medicine from a bottle but since being poorly this past week, it’s been an absolute mission and a battle three times a day to get this antibiotic down them,” she tells CafeMom. “They love to drink through a straw and even more so since having tonsillitis so I knew I had to try it via this method but had to disguise it.”
To make it work, Mayes cut a hole in the the medicine’s cardboard box but any old juice box would do the trick. She then poked a straw through it. To finish it off, she poured her kiddo’s dose into the medicine’s cap and placed it at the bottom. Luckily, it worked like a charm for her little juice box lovers!

“They were none the wiser. I’m just glad they are not at the age of reading — that would have been a problem!” she says. “I know how difficult it is for some parents to get their children to take their medicine so I thought I’d share. It may or may not work for them but anything is worth a try.”
Talk about a serious mom win worth sharing!
