Researchers at Durham and Lancaster universities observed 80 ultrasound scans of 20 fetuses — four of whom had moms who smoked 14 cigarettes per day on average. Fetuses of mothers who smoked, it turns out, showed more mouth movements and self-touching than fetuses of non smokers — and given these types of movements typically decline as babies mature, this suggests that those exposed to cigarettes were neurologically underdeveloped. There are many reasons pregnant women find VBACs to be an attractive option. With vaginal births, there are shorter hospital stays, quicker recoveries, and less blood loss involved in the delivery process. And the good news? According to the American Pregnancy Association, about 90 percent of women who have undergone cesarean deliveries are candidates for VBACs, and in most studies, roughly 3 to 4 out of 5 women who have previously undergone cesarean birth can successfully give birth vaginally....

Since the new Nordstrom (currently under construction) is a big topic of conversation among my mom friends, I’ve begun hearing more and more about Nordstrom’s exceptional return policy. “Nordstrom takes back anything!” one of my friends told me recently. “I had a pair of shoes from Nordstrom that were four years old and they took them back!” “Nordstrom even took back a set of snow tires!” another friend claimed. “Or was it a chainsaw?...

“The way our culture treats boys sickens me. I had an 11 year-old-boy in my room to have blood drawn today. He was crying. Not bawling or throwing a fit, just a few nervous tears. His guardian kept telling him to ‘man up’ and ‘stop asking like a sissy.’ Then she threatened to record him crying to show it to all his friends, which made him cry more. I told her we had a strict no recording/photo policy and she got mad at me for ‘ruining the joke....

Carson’s comments may be a little “out there,” but the meaning behind them definitely isn’t. It’s totally fine if parents don’t believe that it’s necessary to ask their babies for consent when it comes to something as necessary as diaper changes, but we can all recognize that consent overall is incredibly important, and the woman shouldn’t be called “idiotic” for suggesting that parents make it a common thing in their households....

Talk about humiliating! Understandably, poor Chloee doesn’t want to go back to school — particularly since the accident happened because she wasn’t allowed to go to the bathroom.
