That’s why we were so stoked when indie brand Lime Crime announced a new “dark unicorn” hair dye line. According to the brand, this includes “4 deliciously deep shades developed specially for BRUNETTES.” These new semi-permanent shades tantalized us with visions of deep, rich rainbow hair color… all without needing to bleach your hair first. Could this be the answer to all our dark-haired prayers? Perhaps not. Although the initial launch promised a lot of magic in broad strokes, when the Lime Crime dark unicorn dyes actually launched, the description of the line seemed a little different....
I wasn’t all that impressed with that particular carb-overloaded creation (it seemed like boxed mac and cheese thrown on a pizza crust), but I did find a slightly more sophisticated version of what they had, and I have to say it’s pretty amazing. Like the mom who was forced to give birth with a broken leg.
