Aside from being joyous, having a baby is stressful and confusing. A new study conducted by researchers from MassGeneral Hospital for Children and Newton-Wesley Hospital and published in the Journal of Pediatrics found that there were 8,869 cases of sudden unexpected infant death (SUID) in the United States between 1995 and 2014. Using records obtained from the Centers for Disease Control, researchers studied records of infant births and deaths from 1995 to 2014. Within this window, they analyzed infant deaths that occurred in the first 27 days of life (neonatal) and infant deaths that occurred from 28 days to the first year (postneonatal)....
What is shocking is that MTV chose not to air the incident in last Thursday’s episode. They show the gang’s night out in a South Beach nightclub, but it ends with Snooki passing out in Vinny’s bed at home. In other words, MTV covered up a reality that many binge-drinking teens (or about to be binge-drinking teens) might have benefited from seeing. Nope, drinking like a hole isn’t all fun and games and bar fights, and MTV has a responsibility to its viewers and to its booze-guzzling starlet to show the ugliness and talk about it....
I had the same reaction when I heard about the recent outbreak of a rare infection … caused by tainted tattoo ink. Tattoo ink! You’re not supposed to get a rare infection from dirty tattoo ink! (Dirty tattoo needles, possibly.) But it can happen: At least 40 people in 4 different states developed red, bubbly rashes after getting new designs with one thing in common — the same brand of tattoo ink....
So I don’t feel too badly for the neighbors near her new multimillion-dollar home in the UK (where she lives with husband Charles Saatchi) who are saying they can see right into its upper-floor bathroom, where the Domestic Goddess is often spotted in the buff. And this is a problem for them because … ??? Oh wait! I know. Nigella Lawson’s neighbors are probably disappointed that they aren’t seeing her naked in the kitchen!...
