(Yeah, women can be obsessed with makeup AND science fiction. I know that’s still shocking for some people, but here I am.) So when I heard that MAC Cosmetics was gearing up to drop a Star Trek collection to celebrate the series’ 50th anniversary, I completely lost my mind. Two of my favorite things, together at last? These isn’t just relevant to my interests, these ARE my interests. And now, ladies and gentlemen, I proudly present your FIRST COMPLETE LOOK at the MAC x Star Trek collection: the beauty story I have literally waited my entire life to write. Overall, I found Midnight a bit tricky to work with (wet or dry) — it was kind of dry and hard to get an intense color. But oh, WHAT a color when you do! Bird of Prey was more consistent, but less spectacular. I’m definitely into it for a kind of olive green smoky eye, though. All of these glosses are really gorgeous — light and relatively non-sticky, with the signature MAC vanilla scent. My favorite is Warp Speed Ahead because I’m a fool for berry glitter, KHAAAAAAAN! is the most fun to say, while Set to Stun and Pleasure Planet are best layered over other colors. Guys, I need to tell you: at first I was really “eh” about this formula: it goes on really wet, and didn’t seem like it was going to dry immediately. I was wrong; this liner is SO SUPREME. Not only are these colors beautiful — that gold is a heart-stopper — but they last like nothing else. Seriously; I tried to get these off with soap and water and summer-in-New-York sweat, and couldn’t do it (an oil-based cleanser will remove them). I love them so much.
