Framed cork board 1/2 yard of light flannel fabric Scissors, needle, and thread Glue gun and glue sticks Can of spray paint (optional)
Here are the steps: -Start by cutting the fabric into 1.5″ to 2″ squares.-Pinch the fabric in the middle of the square and hand-sew it with a few stitches to help it keep its figure.-String the fabric squares together on the same thread.-Once you have 3 to 4 squares on the thread, start bunching them and sewing them together and trying to make each one look like a little flower ruffle.-About 10 to 12 squares later, you’ll have a little flower ruffle.
It took 10 little flowers to cover the top of Deb’s cork board. Depending on the size of board you’re using, you may need more or less. Deb attached the ruffle to the board with a hot glue gun.
This looks like such a fun and easy technique that could be applied to all sorts of items and surfaces. How about adding a felt-square ruffle to a pillow? Or maybe a cardigan? You could use the little felt flowers to embellish a curtain. Or glue them around a frame. What else? How would you use a ruffle like this?
