Fans discovered a pretty huge secret about Colourpop by scratching up its palettes only to find the brand seemingly had a collaboration with Kathleen Lights that never happened — and now some are suspecting shadiness is at play. Let’s get to the bottom of it, shall we? “Holy smokes!!! I saw a post about how the had you at hello palette was suppose [sic] to be a Kathleen Lights collab and that’s why it had a mirror and the lights,” a fan wrote on Facebook. “They said if you peeled off the sticker on the palette you could see the original design and omg it’s true. The palette is the only one to have a mirror.” It’s also worth noting that the word “lumina” is Romanian for the word “light,” and the root word “lumin” or “lumen” is Latin for “light.” Kathleen Lights. Light. Lumen. Lumina. Coincidence or nah? These shade names were ultimately discarded completely since they aren’t in the You Had Me At Hello palette or the Kathleen Lights Dream Street palette that came later. “I don’t know if she got any of the profits or why the collaboration was never released as such. This is disappointing. I want my money back.” For the record, it’s unlikely that Kathleen Lights made any money off this collaboration that never was. “Maybe ColourPop didn’t want their name tied to hers amidst all that? If that’s the case, it seems weird they would release a collab with her at all, but maybe by the time Dream St. came out they thought it had all blown over?” The Dream St. collaboration ended up being released on December 1, 2018 — which was within the same year, but far enough away from the scandal. Perfect timing? It’s possible! Scratch your own You Had Me At Hello palette. Did YOU find anything waiting for you underneath?
